Christopher Le Coney and Brandon Trice Join Kaplan Martin as Partners
NEW YORK, August 1, 2024 – Kaplan Martin LLP, a premier civil litigation and strategic advisory firm, announced today that Christopher Le Coney and D. Brandon Trice have joined the firm as Partners. Mr. Le Coney and Mr. Trice bring decades of high-stakes civil litigation and investigations experience to Kaplan Martin, further positioning the firm to navigate the most sensitive and complex legal issues on behalf of its clients. The firm also welcomes Serene Ranga as Chief Administrative Officer and Maximilian Crema as an Associate. All four new team members join Kaplan Martin from Hecker Fink LLP.

Christopher Le Coney has extensive experience representing institutional and individual clients in high-profile civil litigation, complex commercial disputes, sensitive internal investigations, and other high-stakes corporate and personal legal matters. Clients across a broad range of industries and backgrounds have relied on Mr. Le Coney’s judgment, foresight, and strategic thinking to help them craft innovative solutions to some of today’s most intricate legal challenges. Mr. Le Coney represents and regularly advises public and privately held companies, financial institutions, hedge funds, tech-industry leaders, and prominent individuals in the financial, fashion, and art worlds. Mr. Le Coney has also helped domestic and international clients navigate a variety of regulatory and enforcement matters involving an array of governmental agencies, and guided numerous leading technology companies and investment banks through internal compliance reviews and their implementation of trainings and other internal controls. Throughout his career, he has also maintained a significant pro bono practice, with a focus on indigent criminal defense and matters affecting the LGBT community. Prior to joining Kaplan Martin, Mr. Le Coney was at Hecker Fink LLP. He began his legal career at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP and served as a pro bono fellow at the Legal Aid Society in Manhattan, where he defended clients in a wide variety of misdemeanor criminal matters. Mr. Le Coney received his law degree from Yale Law School, where he was an Editor of the Yale Law Journal, and graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College with a degree in History and Literature.

Brandon Trice joins Kaplan Martin with significant experience in high-stakes commercial and public interest litigation and has been recognized by numerous publications for his exceptional advocacy and commitment to his clients’ interests. Mr. Trice’s commercial practice spans a broad array of subject areas – from contract, structured finance, and securities law, to intellectual property, cryptocurrency, employment, and product liability law. In his prior role at Hecker Fink LLP, Mr. Trice represented high-profile companies involved in litigation and investigations, as well as C-suite executives negotiating separation packages. He also maintains an active pro bono practice and is dedicated to promoting progressive causes through litigation. He was a key member of the legal team that reached a historic settlement agreement with the Florida State Board of Education, Florida Department of Education, and school districts that effectively nullified the most dangerous and discriminatory impacts of Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law. Previously, Mr. Trice clerked for the Honorable Barrington D. Parker, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Honorable J. Paul Oetken of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. He received his law degree from Yale Law School, where he was an Editor of the Yale Law Journal and Submissions Editor for the Yale Journal on Regulation, and received a B.A. in Philosophy from Wesleyan University.
