Philip Young

Philip’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and appellate matters. Throughout his career, Philip has represented a wide range of clients, including financial services companies, government agencies, elected officials, scientists, and prominent musicians, among others. Philip has also maintained an active pro bono practice. He has represented clients in immigration, criminal, and family court matters, and won the early release of a client from federal prison during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prior to joining Kaplan Martin, Philip spent five years representing the City of New York, its elected officials, and its agencies in state and federal appellate courts. He has argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit a dozen times and argued as amicus curiae before the New York Court of Appeals in a case raising novel questions about the scope of municipal liability in the foster care context. After clerking for the Honorable Mary Lou Robinson, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Philip began his career at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP and Shapiro Arato Bach. Philip received his J.D. magna cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center and his A.B. from Brown University.
